Anyone have F1 Race Stars?

So, I generally just play sim-style racing games (Forza, namely) but I also really like Mario Kart, and F1 Race Stars seems like a similar type game that's available on the 360. It's also cheap ($20 for a new Xbox game is pretty good) so I'm wondering if it's worth picking up just for a fun game to play on occasion.

Anyone have it or play it and have thoughts to share? Is it worth 20 bucks?

It looks fun and Codemasters are a good developer... It might be worth a shot. For the lolz?

maybe, I mean, it's still 20 bucks that I don't want to spend if it sucks, but if it's genuinely entertaining, I don't mind spending it.

I suppose it might depend on how easily you are entertained: http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/…

I have it for the PS3, have played it some. My boys played it some. I had trouble figuring out the championship system, but that could just be me. It's basically Mario Kart with F1 cars and big-headed drivers. I would suggest picking it up used at GameStop. It will probably be significantly cheaper. But yeah, it's fun.

Codemasters are a horrible developer, but I believe for an arcade game that it is reportedly enjoyable.

You don't like Dirt or the F1 games?

The F1 games are an abomination against racing games everywhere. Dirt is respectable.

Sounds like you need iRacing! Or not. I pissed someone off yesterday when I got him started. He's mad because he didn't need another hobby and figured his laptop couldn't run it. Obviously the price tag on iRacing is a lot steeper than $20, but the entertainment value is also much much much higher.

So maybe I have more experience with Dirt than F1. What's the main problem with F1? I tried it on PS3, but gave up because Dualshock.

Everyone needs iRacing... but then sometimes you want a game that's purely entertainment and not a competition sim...

Right I was throwing the line out there fishing for a potential new member based on the Forza comment not his question regarding F1 All-Stars. I enjoyed the last NFS:MW game just because. Truth be told games like that are the only other type of racing game I can enjoy any more.

I want iRacing, but it's pretty expensive with the monthly fees and buying more cars, etc. I don't really have enough time to justify spending all that money on top of also buying a ~$100 pedal and steering wheel rig.

I hear ya. I think looking at it as a monthly fee is a bad idea. You can buy 1 year subscriptions for $50 frequently when they have promos. Plus they'll pay you $40 a year just to race. Still the number of cars and tracks available can make it expensive. I will say this though. You get what you pay for. Even if you just spend 2 or 3 hours a week on it it can be worth it. If you're thrifty I think you can get a Logitech DFGT refurbished for $40.

what's this about them paying me $40 to race? That sounds interesting...

iRacing gives participation credits. They have 4 -12 week seasons every year. You get $7 for any Class A/B series you run 8 of the 12 weeks in and $4 for any Class C/D series you race 8 of the 12 weeks in. The limit is $10 per season. It is in iRacing credits for membership or new content, but it is free money just for racing.

hmm, sounds like a pretty good deal, I just don't know of I'd have enough time to actively take part in a season. I'll think about it though, knowing that it'll almost pay for itself.

You seem pretty knowledgeable about it though, I'll get in touch if I decide to do it.

I am a ForzaNut, and my wife loves Mario Kart.

We both love F1 Race Stars. You will too.

10/10 would buy for $20
